We are a small hard-working team in Ipswich offering our varied UK & International clients’ solutions to their water extraction, treatment, and control challenges. We provide high quality water products with ongoing professional support. We recently joined the Franklin Electric family, strengthening our ability to offer state of the art pumping solutions to a wide variety of market sectors. Franklin Water - Europe
The product range varies from a range of plastic fittings through to pumps and solutions for water wells, building services booster sets, irrigation systems etc.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
To participate in two key areas of the company’s business.
Operations – this is the team that processes the days’ orders. Involves taking orders, processing them on the Sage accounts package, issuing picks and instructions to the warehouse for processing, customer liaison and communications. Allocating stock against sales orders from stock or following shipments inward.
Purchasing - the purchasing for the company is primarily one of ‘strategic’ planning. The lines of supply for the main products are mainly from factories that are part of the same group. Outside this there are other factories, mainly in Europe for which the company acts as the main importer and distributor. Smaller sundry and consumable items are sourced in the UK. Sourcing is well defined in the company therefore purchasing is more a planning and strategic process than a negotiating or buying task. Price and availability enquiries to suppliers and research suppliers for specific items when required.
The company operates from a single location with up to 20 people. Other businesses in the group are in Ipswich and Hadleigh with other depots in 5 other locations around the UK. Other manufacturing facilities located in Europe and the Rest of the World.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Responsibilities
• Able to work in a time critical situation to achieve dispatch deadlines
• Good communication skills with customers, suppliers, transport companies and couriers
• Good team player to ensure good communication with the warehouse and production teams
• Good time management and clear thinker
• Data management using the CRM and Sage accounts package
Purchase Responsibilities
• Methodical and logical thinker
• Analytical and a planner
• Requires a technical ‘head’, enthusiasm and interest for the products of the business
• A proactive approach to learning the business and products.
• Data management using the CRM and Sage accounts package
TEAM CONSIDERATIONS AND OBSERVATIONS
• Working in a small integrated team can be a challenge that requires a driven but supportive person who is able to work well alongside others.
• There will be role overlaps as is usual in a small office
• Operations team of two with two others in support (accounts & administration)
• Warehouse Team is 5 people including the Supervisor
• Production Team is 3 people including the Supervisor / Team Leader

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Skills, Abilities & Tasks
• Effective communication in person and small group settings with customers, clients, and colleagues.
• Solid understanding of team principles and strong mathematical skills.
• Applies common-sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Problem-solving skills for routine situations involving several known variables.
• Plans own work and occasionally assists in planning assignments for others.
• Ability to quickly learn systems and accumulate product knowledge
• Expedite and work with other company departments and selected suppliers to determine correct part numbers, lead times, costs etc. to ensure an accurate timely response is given to the customer.
• Process customer orders to raise the correct paperwork to the agreed procedures ensuring it is completed in a timely manner.
• Communicate with customers on progress and any issues or delays
• Highly organised, positive, outgoing and motivated with an ability to multitask and prioritise jobs
• Provide holiday and sickness covers for staff members when required, training will be provided
• Able to adhere to all company procedures
• Able to follow all company safety and operational processes.
• To undertake other duties from time to time as required by line Manager.
Education and Experience
• Relevant degree or business, business management, marketing, engineering technology qualification, or a related field qualification (required).
• Relevant experience preferred, but a candidate showing high level of IT proficiency would be favoured.
Computer Skills
• High: Microsoft Office suite – particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher,
• Intermediate: CRM, Sage Line 50 Accounts, Courier/Freight Portal Entry (Training is provided)
