We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team at Ivetsey Bank Hospital School, to support and help our patients/pupils with their education and social development, both in and out of the classroom. You will be working across age groups between the ages of 12 to 18.
In this role you will work collaboratively with class teachers to support and enhance pupils' learning and attainment. Foster pupils' independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion. Provide tailored support to individuals and small groups to enable full access to the curriculum, active participation in learning, and a sense of achievement. Share responsibility with teachers for creating engaging classroom displays and developing effective learning resources. Take pride in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and stimulating learning environment. Promote and support inclusion by encouraging the participation of all pupils in both learning activities and extracurricular opportunities.
What you'll be working:
- Term time only
- 32.5 hours per week
- 08:30am to 15:30pm
- Monday to Friday.
What you'll be doing:
Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils' achievement, progress, problems etc.
Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
Act as an exam invigilator
Working 1:1 with pupils requiring extra time with tasks, or increased support.
You may be asked to deliver a topic or a lesson to a small group of pupils.
Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
What you'll have:
Have excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
Be able to keep calm in difficult situations.
Be able to create positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Help with administrative tasks, this may require helping with Link Teacher tasks
Effective use of ICT to support learning
Patience and empathy, responding sensitively to pupils' needs
Basic understanding of child development and learning
Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
Experience of working with children with ADHD / ASD desirable but not essential
Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting
Experience planning and delivering learning activities
