Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Cove School is seeking a Health & Welfare Assistant to ensure effective and efficient provision of first aid and welfare support to the pupils of Cove School. We have a large dedicated medical room that is well equipment and also acts as the main office for the Health & Welfare Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administering prescribed medication and managing medical supplies
• Providing general first aid
• Maintaining statutory records and managing medical and welfare records.
• Coordinatingfirst aid training
• Collaborate with external health professionals, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health regulations
• Communicate with parents

Key Requirements:

• A First Aid qualification is desirable but training will be provided by the school if necessary, involving a 3-day first aid course via the St John’s Ambulance within 3 months of taking up the post
• Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, and using a database
• Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
• Able to offer a high level of pastoral care to pupils
• Good communication skills and have an excellent level of oral and written ability
• Strong organisational, time-management and planning skills
• Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Able to respond quickly to an emergency
• Positive, enthusiastic outlook and attitude
• Experience in an educational environment is desirable, but not essential
