School Business Manager – UCS Bolton

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experiencedSchool Business Managerto join University Collegiate School (UCS) Bolton. This pivotal role involves leading the strategy and day-to-day management of the school’s business functions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations that support the educational mission of UCS.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial management of the school, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Manage health and safety policies and ensure compliance across the school.
• Lead human resources functions, including staff recruitment, retention, and welfare.
• Ensure all compliance and administrative duties are met to the highest standard.
• Line manage the estates, administration, finance, and ICT teams.
• Work collaboratively alongside the Headteacher and the QUEST central team to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in school business management or a comparable leadership role.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and financial planning.
• Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations, HR practises, and compliance requirements within an educational setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualities

• A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Experience of working in a secondary school or UTC.
• Ability to work collaboratively.
• Passion for supporting staff wellbeing and professional development.
