This high‑profile scheme will focus on extensive external and internal fabric upgrades, restoring and modernising the structure while preserving its unique character
As a result of the project's complexity, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in fabric refurbishment, conservation‑minded works, and the challenges associated with working on existing buildings.
Your New Role
Reporting to your Operations Manager you will take full project leadership, overseeing a programme of fabric-focused works that includes:
- External envelope upgrades including stone repair, façade works, roofing, windows, and structural fabric enhancements.
- Sensitive refurbishment to retain key architectural features while improving building performance.
- Close collaboration with fabric specialists, design consultants, planners, and other stakeholders.
- Management of access strategies, temporary works, and safe delivery in a constrained, busy environment.
- Coordination of specialist subcontractors and strict quality control across all trades.
- Full responsibility for programme, health and safety, budgets, procurement, and reporting.
- Leadership of your team of experienced Site managers.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a high‑visibility project where precision, planning, and stakeholder management are critical.
What You'll Need to Succeed
You'll bring:
- Demonstrable experience managing fabric refurbishments, façade upgrades, ideally £10m+.
- Strong understanding of stone, roof, and external envelope works on existing structures.
- Experience managing projects in live or urban settings with complex access challenges.
- Confident leadership and the ability to navigate multiple stakeholders, from consultants to ownership bodies.
- Robust technical and commercial understanding of refurbishment methodology.
- SMSTS and strong safety credentials.
- Experience within Edinburgh's built environment sector is highly advantageous.
What You'll Get in Return
You'll be joining a contractor with an excellent reputation for delivery across Scotland and a track record of securing repeat business on high‑profile projects. You'll benefit from:
- A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- The opportunity to lead a significant project in the capital city.
- Long‑term career progression within a supportive management structure.
- The chance to leave a lasting legacy on a building known across Edinburgh.
