Job overviewThe Greenshaw Learning Trust is ‘Always Learning’We’re looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our friendly, supportive team at Broadwater School, part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust.About the role:Catering Assistants play an important part in the smooth and efficient running of the school kitchen. The post holder will be expected to work in a flexible way to meet the needs of the school, combining planned and regular tasks with day to day needs and emergency responses. To work as part of a team in the school’s catering facilities and assist in preparation and meals under instruction of the Catering Manager.About the School:This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join Broadwater School and contribute to improving the life chances of young people both within the school and across our Trust.Our standards are exceptionally high. To get a feel of life at Greenshaw Learning Trust, please download our ‘Why you should work for GLT’ recruitment brochure on our jobs portal.Main responsibilities:General duties in kitchen and dining roomAssist in the preparation and cooking of school mealsAssist with the service and presentation of food and beveragesAssist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areasAttend training courses and meetings as requiredEnsure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all timesDetermining any action to be taken arising from shortage of equipment and stockIdentification of health and safety hazards and other deficiencies in the kitchenCleaning and maintenance duties which may involve dealing with chemicals, sweeping, mopping andlifting heavy items.
