IntroductionAcorn by Synergie is recruiting an NDT Technician for a leading manufacturer based in South Molton. This is an excellent opportunity to join the aerospace manufacturing sector, offering full training, ongoing development, and the potential for permanent employment.
The role is responsible for processing and inspecting products in accordance with engineering technical drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience within NDT, welding, or aerospace castings and welds, with the ability to ensure compliance with governing drawings and specifications.
Key Duties- Set up and calibrate NDT equipment, conduct tests, and interpret, evaluate, and document results in line with procedures and Quality Acceptance Standards.
- Apply approved NDT techniques within the scope and limitations of qualification.
- Conduct process control checks in accordance with applicable process standards.
- Provide guidance and supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel where required.
- Identify expected discontinuities based on product technology and inspection requirements.
- Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and contractual documents and translate them into practical testing instructions.
- Compile written instructions to satisfy controlling documents for approved methods.
- Perform all aspects of Penetrant Inspection where technically approved.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities through input into procedures, work instructions, and standard operations.
- Support multi-skilling by working across the department as required.
- Liaise regularly with the NDT Team Leader regarding audit findings and improvement proposals.
- Support all Health & Safety requirements, safety checks, and process controls.
- Engage positively in continuous improvement activities.
- Experience in NDT is highly desirable.
- Foundry or welding experience is transferable and candidates from these backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Competent in using a range of measurement tools.
- Good level of computer literacy.
- Experience within the aerospace industry is advantageous.
- Experience working with castings and welds.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- Monday to Thursday: 8am-4:45pm.
- Friday: 8am-12pm.
- Temporary to permanent opportunity.
