The role of Finance Business Partner at Chesterfield Borough Council offers an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking finance team and make a meaningful contribution to the council’s financial strategy and performance.
In this role, you will provide high‑quality financial advice, analysis and guidance to senior managers, working collaboratively with stakeholders to support informed decision‑making, effective budget management and value for money.
You will lead on budget setting, monitoring and forecasting activities, ensuring strong financial control and long‑term sustainability.
You will also contribute to the development of financial models and business cases that support the council’s strategic priorities.
About you

You will be a fully or part‑qualified accountant (CCAB or AAT) with proven experience of working in a finance environment, ideally within the public sector. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, concise insights tailored to different audiences.
You will be proactive and highly organised, able to balance competing priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail. With sound technical knowledge of accounting policies, processes and systems, you will be a team player who is self‑motivated, innovative and able to make a positive contribution to the council’s success.
