Summary
There is a commitment to maintaining competencies and engage in continual professional. Main Tasks An awareness of public user involvement in the service we provide. Carrying equipment, lifting, bending and standing for long periods. Walking long distances throughout the hospital, at GP surgeries and during domiciliary visits Preparing work areas Explaining to patients a number of procedures. Using persuasive skills and reassurance in dealing with those who are needle phobic. Assisting patients to dress and undress if necessary Collecting blood samples into appropriate containers. Recording details of blood samples taken and, where appropriate, obtaining and recording medical information from patients. Collecting blood samples from patients with varying disabilities, behavioural problems, patients who faint/vomit and dealing with distressed patients in a sensitive manner. Having an awareness of the need to report any concerns regarding a patients condition and/or safeguarding. Assisting team leader and supervisor. Supporting new and less experienced colleagues with training. Inter-departmental liaison. Being open and honest and learning from mistakes
