Summary
To work across Harefield Hospital in a range of ward and out-patient settings, to provide a specialist physiotherapy service to patients in cardio-thoracic surgery / cardiology, transplantation, respiratory medicine, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. To independently perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of inpatients and outpatients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions to provide a diagnosis and deliver an individualised and specialised treatment programme of care. To manage own clinical/non clinical caseload and be responsible for a defined area of service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review. Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available via a bleep system if required. Clinical work is not routinely evaluated. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner with freedom to act on own interpretation of data. To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with Universities to ensure standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by degree level qualification. To supervise, educate and appraise the performance/competence of junior physiotherapists on a daily basis.
