Summary

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Research Nurse / General Practice Nurse to join our GP surgery on a part-time, fixed-term basis. The post holder will work across clinical general practice nursing duties and the delivery of high-quality primary care research studies. The role involves supporting the identification, recruitment, consent and follow-up of patients participating in research, alongside providing safe, effective, evidence-based nursing care to the practice population. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider primary care team and external research partners to ensure research is delivered in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and governance requirements. Key Responsibilities Research Responsibilities Identify, screen and recruit eligible patients for research studies in line with study protocolsObtain informed consent in accordance with GCP and ethical approvals Obtain informed consent in accordance with GCP and ethical approvals Deliver study procedures, including data collection, clinical assessments, and sample handling as required Maintain accurate and timely research documentation and records Liaise with principal investigators, research networks, sponsors and external stakeholders Ensure research activity complies with regulatory, governance and safety requirements Support monitoring visits, audits and study close-out activities Promote research awareness within the practice and to patients General Practice Nursing Responsibilities Provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care within the GP surgery Undertake clinical duties appropriate to a Band 6 General Practice Nurse, which may include: Long-term condition management Health promotion and disease prevention Immunisations and vaccinations Wound care and chronic disease reviews Maintain clinical competence and work within NMC Code of Professional Standards Contribute to safeguarding adults and children in line with practice policies Professional and Team Responsibilities Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, HCAs and administrative staff Networking and working collaboratively with NIHR CRN, Care Homes, Pharmacy and Research Providers Participate in service development, audit and quality improvement activities Maintain up-to-date knowledge through continuing professional development Adhere to practice policies, infection control, health and safety, and information governance requirements
