About the role

Due to expansion, we are looking to recruit permanent and temporary Fitness to Practise Investigators within our Fitness to Practise department.

You will investigate allegations about social service workers, carry out risk assessments, prepare written reports which make recommendations and decisions, make sure investigatory processes are carried out following our procedures and legislative requirements and that our methods of investigation are best practice.

In addition to permanent and temporary positions, this role is suitable for secondment arrangements up to 12 months. At the end of the secondment the post holder will return to their substantive post and organisation.

Who we are

We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social work, social care and children and young people services being provided by a trusted, skilled, confident and valued workforce.

We protect the public by registering people working in social work, social care and children and young people services, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and act.

What you need to succeed

Experience of investigating cases and preparing reports
The ability to make evidence-based decisions on nuanced matters and record your reasons clearly
Clear and sensitive communication using plain language
Sharing our values of working together, responsibility and accountability, respect and recognition
The ability to manage your own workload flexibly and proactively and work autonomously with minimal supervision
A positive and motivated approach

Our office is in Dundee, and we have an agile working policy that supports office and remote working arrangements, depending on the requirements of each job, which we are happy to discuss with candidates. All staff are required to attend the office at times – for example, for meetings, training and staff events. During the initial induction period, we will ask you to come to the office two days a week.
