In this role you will supervise service teams ensuring the development of cost effective and customer focused operational teams engaged in the daily delivery of environment operations within their service area (Refuse, Recycling, Green waste). Ensuring that all services are delivered in accordance with the Council’s values, beliefs, priorities, policies, procedures and objectives. Ensuring that operations are carried out in a safe manner with regard to health and safety legislation, regulatory compliance and environmental standards.

About the Role:
To plan and organise the work of the respective teams including the allocation of human and physical resources within allocated budget parameters, ensuring efficient usage. Dealing with timesheets, identifying the need for agency and covering staff, managing holiday requests, administering sickness and absence processes. Collect in all operational task sheets and associated paperwork at the end of the day etc.

About you:
Detailed knowledge of Environmental Management, Waste management, health and safety and transport legislation and operational.
Experience in the waste industry with the ability to manage frontline workforce when necessary and have relevant supervision and people skills experience.
Knowledge of theory and national guidance on environmental management.
Thorough knowledge of internal HR and H&S policies and procedures.
Experience of staff supervision.
Email and letter writing.
Fluency in English and the ability to communicate with different groups.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
Flexible approach to work.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout the borough
