Crynodeb

1. ROLE FOCUS

To lead the development of the school’s education programme at Susan’s Farm for young people. The post holder will deliver an engaging and stimulating programme of activities under the new overarching theme of ‘Explore and Engage: Learning through Nature’. You will be responsible for designing, promoting, recruiting, and delivering these programmes to an agreed target primarily as short-term interventions for young people who are at risk of being excluded.

2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• The post holder will lead the development of a cross-curricular, creative programme of activities that will engage the students, matching the targets of the students, utilising other staff and volunteers as appropriate.

• Deliver an engaging and stimulating programme of activities to a range of school groups and other groups with a focus on schools with high indices of deprivation.

• Promote and recruit visiting groups ensuring booking forms and risk assessments are completed fully and ensuring evaluation forms are completed after each visit and collated for any reporting requirements.
• The post holder will ensure records are kept, including for the Local Authority and other grant funders, in line with service policies and procedures. Ensuring all records are kept up to date with a clear record of all interventions.

• The post holder will liaise with schools and other referrers, completing appropriate paperwork and contributing to an on-going, effective relationship between Susan’s Farm and the referrer, including parents and carers.

• The post holder will promote Susan’s Farm service with local schools and other partners, to recruit students who would benefit from the service and to proactively follow up any referrals to encourage those who may benefit to attend.

• The post holder will identify, monitor, and manage risk to self or others in every contact with a student ensuring compliance with Susan’s Farm policies including Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies.

• The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all.


• The post holder must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements to ensure that all young people and schools can access support at a time which suits their needs.

• The post holder will work as part of the staff team, delivering quality outdoor education on the farm, ensuring the farm is a safe, clean, friendly, and welcoming place for all people working on and visiting the site.

• To join in with farming tasks as required as well as working on farming tasks as part of the programme.


3. PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES


• The post holder will identify, monitor, and manage risk to self or others in every contact with a student.

• The post holder will deliver outcome focused, educational evidence-based interventions usually in a group setting for young people experiencing difficulties in engaging with schooling, utilising other staff and volunteers as appropriate.

• Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols.

• The post holder will engage in managerial and practice supervision, identifying the scope of practice of the individual postholder, and working safely within that scope, using a skills development plan.

• The post holder will contribute to the development of individual or group materials or training materials.


4. EDUCATION AND TRAINING

• The post holder will ensure their own knowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a high level of competence, identifying training needs through supervision and skills development plan.


5. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

• The post holder will work with others to develop practice protocols and audit tools, to collect the relevant statistical information to underpin service evaluation and record keeping.

• The post holder will be key in obtaining students and schools views and feedback on the service provided to ensure the delivery of accessible provision.

• The post holder will contribute on behalf of Susan’s Farm to establishing essential networks, knowledge base of resources and maintain links with relevant community organisations.




6. GENERAL

• The post holder will keep accurate and appropriate records, providing information for monitoring and evaluation as required by policies and procedures and in line with good practise.

• The post holder will participate in and actively contribute to individual supervision, training and team meetings as required.

• The post holder will comply with Susan’s Farm objectives, values, and policies, including the Code of Conduct.

• The post holder will undertake duties to ensure the health and safety of themselves, colleagues, students, volunteers, and visitors.

• The post holder will work flexibly, being prepared to perform other duties commensurate with the role, including actively supporting and promoting any fundraising activities of Susan’s Farm.

• Work alongside and ensure active student participation in all aspects of work, including design, implementation, and monitoring of activities.
