Summary

**Important notice**

In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy.

Join our friendly and passionate Welcome Team in the White Peak and play a key role in delivering exceptional experiences for visitors. As part of the wider Peak District National Trust team, you’ll help us achieve our goals as a conservation charity.

Welcome & Service Team Members are the first point of contact for visitors, providing a warm welcome, helpful information, and outstanding customer service at all times.

This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts. You'll support our core team, focussing on regular weekend and bank holiday working, as well as school holiday periods, to support peak visitor times.

What it's like to work here
You'll cover two beautiful locations: Ilam Park and Dovedale National Nature Reserve, where you’ll work alongside a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to create memorable experiences for everyone who visits.

At Dovedale National Nature Reserve, you’ll be part of a busy, well-organized team of Welcome & Service Team Members and volunteers. The site is vibrant and full of opportunities to engage with visitors about the stunning landscape, local landmarks, wildlife, and our conservation work in the White Peak. You’ll also sign up new members and support car park operations, including cash and card payments, following clear cash-handling procedures from opening to close.

At Ilam Park, you’ll work alongside our volunteer team, or independently, to provide excellent customer service at the entrance, helping visitors make the most of their day. You’ll assist with car parking payments when needed and ensure the site remains welcoming and well presented.

Across both sites, there are opportunities to collaborate with our Visitor Experience team to deliver popular trails and seasonal events. You may also support other National Trust locations in the Peak District when required.

What you'll be doing
You’ll provide a warm, informative, and helpful welcome to all visitors, making sure everyone feels valued from the moment they arrive. You’ll engage people with stories about the landscape, wildlife, and the conservation work taking place, helping visitors understand and appreciate the importance of the site.

You’ll play an active part in growing support for the National Trust by talking to visitors about membership and signing up new members. Alongside this, you’ll support car park operations and handle payments securely to keep things running smoothly.

Maintaining the site’s high standards will also be part of your day. You’ll help ensure presentation and cleanliness remain excellent, including looking after the toilet facilities. You’ll also assist with events and activities that enhance the visitor experience and help make each visit memorable.
