Summary

Project Overview

Electrical installation and inspection/testing works for a new multi-dwelling residential apartment block, from first fix through to final commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities
Installation Works

Install electrical systems in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant regulations

First fix works including:

Containment systems (conduit, trunking, tray, basket)

Cable installation for lighting, power, data, fire alarm, access control, and communal systems

Second fix works including:

Sockets, switches, lighting fixtures, appliances, and accessories

Distribution boards and consumer units

Install and terminate:

Metering equipment (where applicable)

Emergency lighting systems

Fire alarm and life safety interfaces

Work within individual apartments and communal areas (stairs, corridors, plant rooms, car parks)

Testing & Inspection

Carry out inspection and testing in accordance with current wiring regulations (e.g. BS 7671)

Perform:

Dead testing (continuity, insulation resistance, polarity)

Live testing (earth fault loop impedance, RCD testing, functional testing)

Complete Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) and associated schedules

Assist with commissioning and snag resolution

Support final handover and compliance sign-off

Compliance & Safety

Ensure all works comply with:

Current electrical regulations

Building regulations

Health & Safety legislation

Adhere to site rules, method statements, and risk assessments

Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times

Skills & Experience Required

Approved Electrician status (e.g. JIB Gold Card / equivalent)

Proven experience on new build residential or apartment projects

Strong knowledge of inspection, testing, and certification

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications

Good communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)

18th Edition Wiring Regulations

Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. 2391 or equivalent)

Valid ECS/JIB card

Tools & Equipment

Own calibrated test equipment

Standard electrician hand tools and PPE
