Metering Dig Team Opportunities (Team Leaders & Operatives)

We have a range of exciting opportunities, supporting our long-term client, Affinity Water. These roles are ideal for both experienced Team Leaders and skilled Operatives who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in doing things safely and correctly, and want to be part of a supportive, professional team.

We offer permanent positions for those looking to build and develop a long-term career with Clancy, as well as shorter-term self‑employed opportunities for individuals seeking flexibility.

Joining us as an Operative is a great spring board for a career in the water sector.

As part of our Metering Dig Team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering excavation, installation, and reinstatement works to a high standard across public highways and private properties.

The role...

You’ll be involved in carrying out and supporting safe excavation and reinstatement activities to enable water meter installations, maintenance, and replacement works. Team Leaders will take responsibility for coaching and and supporting less experienced operatives and both will focus on delivering high‑quality work safely and efficiently.

Across all roles, you’ll be trusted to represent Clancy and Affinity Water professionally, ensuring works are completed right first time, every time.

Here are some of things you'll get involved with...

  • Carrying out safe excavation and reinstatement works on public highways and private properties.
  • Supporting water meter installation, maintenance, and replacement activities.
  • Ensuring all works comply with Clancy and Affinity Water health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Completing reinstatement to specification, maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Using underground service detection equipment (such as CAT and Genny) to identify buried services.
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors, planners, team members, and customers.
  • Completing required documentation accurately and on time.

We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate ...

You understand and follow safe systems of work and take health and safety seriously.

You hold a full, clean UK driving licence.

Team leaders will also need...

Experience working within utilities, ideally in the water or metering sector.

Hands-on experience with excavation and reinstatement works.

An NRSWA qualification (units 1–6 as a minimum).

Competency in underground service detion using CAT and Genny.
