Summary
Job title: Female Personal Assistant (care)
Location: CM6 Thaxted, Essex
Rate of pay: £14.00 per hour (Employed)
Hours:
Bank PA with flexibility to cover holiday and sickness. My usual pattern of hours is 8.15am-2.15pm and 5.15-6.45pm daily. Sometimes additional hours are needed for longer activities or when my needs are higher. Ideally, a Bank PA would also do a regular shift for continuity. Any regular contracted shift would accrue paid Annual Leave.
Job description: I am a 43 year old woman with complex health needs arising from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Functional Neurological Disorder. I have Personal Assistants to support me in living an independent and fulfilling life.
My interests include gardening and time in nature, ‘The Zebra Club’ for EDS, Breathworks Mindfulness, plant-based nutrition, being creative, and maintaining my home. Quiet time is important for me and I have a dedicated mindfulness practice. I also enjoy teaching mindfulness to other people living with pain and illness. My two cats are my little family, they’re in charge!
I have a small team of PAs who support my independence across the week. This includes enabling me to carry out my personal care needs, including showering and hair washing; assisting with household tasks, including preparing nutritious food and drinks, and helping me to maintain a tidy and organised home; attending appointments and supporting health management; enabling my engagement in meaningful activities, both in and out of the home.
I value people who can use their initiative and pay attention to detail. There may be times when my needs fluctuate, so the ability to be flexible and adapt according to the situation is vital. Being able to work both independently and as part of a team is important. Good communication skills, sensitivity and friendliness are also essential qualities in this role.
Having a full, clean driving licence and being confident driving my large automatic WAV is essential.
I have a no smoking policy in place for all employees.
Experience or qualifications:
Experience providing support to someone in a similar situation would be an advantage, however training will be provided and paid for.
Any offers are subject to a DBS check, receipt of two references and checking the legal right to live and work in the UK.
As some personal care is involved, I would feel more comfortable with a female carer. This advert complies with the Sex Discrimination Act (1975) Section 7
