Summary
The successful candidate will be skilled in robotic surgery with a specialist interest in robotic Gynae-oncology, Gynaecology and Colorectal surgery, and proficient in surgical assisting under the direction of the Consultant Surgeons. The successful candidate must possess the right skills to drive forward service objectives for service progression and innovation whilst maintaining the daily operation of the service requirements. You will work at an advanced practitioner level and promote clinical excellence throughout the team and wider organisation, whilst working closely with the wider theatre team and key stake holders.
You will be responsible for professional development of the operating theatre teams you work with, therefore it is essential that you possess excellent teaching, leadership, communication and organisational skills; have the drive and ambition to develop people and have the ability to provide innovative ways of thinking to develop individuals and the robotic service as a whole.
To be successfully recruited to the Band 8a post, you must hold an MSc in Surgical Care Practice. Candidates without an MSc in SCP will be considered for a Band 7 trainee post, where they will transition to B8a upon completion of the degree. Experience of developing and leading clinical audit is essential and research experience desirable.
• To provide expert assistance and support in robotic surgery to the Consultant Surgeons, SPRs, theatre staff and patients involved in robotic surgery
• To provide a nurse specialist / Surgical First Assistant qualified nurse/ Surgical First Assistant (SFA) role. The primary purpose of this role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to health professionals concerning a specific disease/condition.
• Demonstrates significant advanced knowledge and skills within speciality and sphere of practice.
• Supports training within the Robotic surgery theatre team
• Have corporate identity as an expert within the specialist area of robotic surgery
• Lead and provide training and education across the organisation in relevant area of practice.
