Summary
We have an exciting opportunity available to join the complement of Consultants based within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Service at Kingston NHS Foundation Trust.
This new substantive post is full time and has been created to develop the Upper Limb Service at Kingston Hospital, providing additional capacity for complex Upper Limb elective and trauma cases. We are seeking candidates who are prepared to work flexibly and will increase the skill mix within the service. Candidates must be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience of treating sub specialty conditions both electively and trauma, as well as demonstrating broad experience in general trauma.
The successful applicant will be fellowship trained in upper limb elective and trauma surgery. Experience of shoulder arthroplasty and the management of complex upper limb trauma is essential. We are seeking applicants who have had experience in their fellowship and postgraduate training in the management of shoulder and elbow pathologies. The successful candidate will integrate into the upper limb department with regular shoulder MDTs.
This post includes delivery of the consultant 1:10 on call rota and will deliver outpatient services onsite and outreach locations. Elective operating will be delivered both onsite and at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC), providing planned Upper limb Trauma list capacity onsite.
The Orthopaedic team value strong collaborative teamwork across all disciplines. There is a well-established multi-disciplinary team, both in outpatients and on Cambridge Ward, and the post holder will be expected to work pro-actively in the efficient day to day running of this busy unit, contributing to the ongoing development of the service.
Kingston and Richmond Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of four partners delivering Elective Orthopaedic services at EOC, and the post holder will have bi-weekly sessions allocated to operate there within their job plan.
Candidates must have FRCS or equivalent. All applicants should be fully registered with GMC, hold a licensed to practice, be fellowship trained post CCT.
Interviews will take place in early 2026 and we aim to commence this appointment in April 2026.
