Summary

Job Purpose

To carry out a full range of skilled domestic electrical works, ensuring all repairs, installations, testing and certification meet current regulations, QCC standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake electrical repairs, installations, testing and certification in domestic properties in line with NICEIC and regulatory standards.

Lead or work as part of a team (up to 5), including supervising and training apprentices/trainees when required.

Operate, maintain and ensure calibration of testing equipment, taking appropriate emergency action where necessary.

Read and work from engineering drawings and liaise with managers to agree job orders and variations.

Communicate professionally with residents, client officers and admin staff, providing advice and progress updates.

Accurately record works, materials and stock levels using IT/handheld systems in line with SOR and Quality Management Systems.

Safely operate, maintain and secure vehicles, tools, plant and access equipment, ensuring PAT testing compliance.

Comply with Health & Safety legislation, asbestos procedures, emergency call-outs, and contribute to continuous service improvement.

Requirements
City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (IEE Regs).

City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing (or equivalent).

Ability to apply and complete NICEIC (or equivalent) certification accurately.

Proven experience carrying out domestic electrical works, including testing and fault finding.

Competent in the safe use and maintenance of electrical testing equipment, including calibration awareness.

Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.

Experience supervising or supporting apprentices/trainees.

Full UK driving licence and ability to operate work vehicles safely.

Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including asbestos awareness and emergency procedures.
