Cover Supervisor | Secondary Education

Location: Local Secondary Schools (Key Stages 3 & 4)

Contract: Flexible / Supply basis

Salary: Competitive daily rates

Are you confident leading a classroom and looking for flexible work that fits your schedule? We are recruiting Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools during teacher absences.

In this role, you will be the lead figure in the classroom, using pre-prepared lesson plans and resources to ensure learning continues seamlessly. While no planning or marking is required, your presence is vital to maintaining a calm, productive, and safe environment for pupils aged 11-16.

Who is this role ideal for?
  • Aspiring Teachers: Gain essential "front-of-class" experience for your CV or PGCE application.

  • Teaching Assistants: Take the next step in your career with more classroom responsibility.

  • Graduates: Build professional experience working with young people.

  • Qualified Teachers: Enjoy the variety of secondary work without the stress of planning and grading.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervision: Oversee pupils and ensure they remain on-task with set work.

  • Behaviour Management: Maintain a positive learning atmosphere in line with school policies.

  • Student Support: Encourage engagement and assist pupils with their independent learning.

  • Safe Environment: Create a supportive space and strictly follow safeguarding protocols.

  • Flexibility: Work across a variety of subjects and different school settings.

What We're Looking For
  • Confidence: Ability to manage and lead groups of students (Ages 11-16).

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and fluent English.

  • Education: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades 9-4 / A*-C) including English and Maths.

  • Reliability: A professional, adaptable, and punctual approach to work.

  • Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

Note: While a degree, PGCE, QTS, or Level 3 TA qualification is advantageous, your character and experience with young people are our primary focus.

How to Apply

If you are professional, adaptable, and ready to make a positive impact in the classroom, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to join our secondary support team!
