Crynodeb
We are looking for a compassionate, organised and proactive Domestic Abuse Specialist to join our team, supporting families within
refuge accommodation and across the community.

THE ROLE
This is a varied and rewarding role supporting adults and children who have experienced domestic abuse. You will provide
high-quality practical and emotional support through a keywork system, helping service users make informed decisions about their
future while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of refuge accommodation, undertaking risk assessments, completing
admissions, supporting move-on, and working closely with NDAS Children’s Domestic Abuse Specialists (CDAS) to deliver a seamless
family-centred service.
You will also provide advice, support, and groupwork within the community, represent NDAS at multi-agency meetings, and contribute
to raising awareness of domestic abuse across the locality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
REFUGE SUPPORT
* Support service users and their children from admission through to move-on.
* Complete refuge admissions, assessments and all required paperwork within set timescales.
* Ensure residents understand licence agreements, house rules, and expectations.
* Develop and deliver individual support plans using a keywork approach.
* Complete Outcome Star assessments and contribute to multi-disciplinary planning.
* Support with housing benefit claims, budgeting, and resettlement.
* Facilitate resident house meetings.
* Manage refuge safety, identify safeguarding concerns, and follow procedures.
* Issue warnings and eviction notices in line with NDAS procedures where required.
* Work in partnership with CDAS to support parenting assessments and child-focused work.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
* Provide ongoing support, advice, and advocacy to individuals and families in the community.
* Deliver groupwork programmes for adults affected by domestic abuse.
* Establish drop-in services and co-locate with partner agencies.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records of all support provided.
* Raise awareness of domestic abuse through events, presentations, and partnership working.
RISK MANAGEMENT & PARTNERSHIP WORKING
* Undertake telephone assessments for refuge referrals within 24 hours.
* Continually risk assess and refer high-risk cases to MARAC.
* Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
* Ensure appropriate referrals and safety planning for families not accommodated.
GENERAL DUTIES
* Support students and volunteers within the refuge.
* Attend team meetings, supervision, and training.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
* Participate in the on-call rota (telephone support only).
* Promote a positive image of NDAS at all times.

ABOUT YOU
You will be:
* Experienced in supporting vulnerable adults and/or families.
* Confident in risk assessment, safeguarding, and multi-agency working.
* Able to manage a busy caseload and work independently.
* Skilled in building trusting relationships with service users.
* Organised, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
* Committed to equality, diversity, and empowering survivors of domestic abuse.
Essential:
* Experience of working with individuals affected by domestic abuse or similar vulnerabilities.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk management.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and manage casework.
* Strong communication and partnership working skills.
* Willingness to participate in the on-call rota.
Desirable:
* Experience working in refuge accommodation.
* Experience delivering groupwork programmes.
* Knowledge of housing, benefits, and resettlement processes.
