Summary
Within protocols, to prescribe and plan (volume) the delivery of radiotherapy for patients in your defined caseload. To ensure that all patients and carers have the necessary information to give informed consent for all procedures, including the development of relevant patient information leaflets and booklets. In partnership with patients and other professionals, make sound decisions, which are ethically based in the interest of patients, to ensure that patients and their relatives receive care/support that is of a high professional standard. To review patients undergoing external beam radiotherapy and advise and manage this complex treatment as along with the management of acute radiation induced toxicity and the associated side effects of cancer treatment. Undertake independent or supplementary prescribing within scope of practice using expert analytical skills and judgement and/or administration of medication using Patient Group Directions. To undertake assessment, provide support, information and education to patients post treatment in follow up clinics. To provide expert clinical information and advice to the multidisciplinary teams across the network and in the primary healthcare setting (e.g. GPs, community nurses).
