For a full overview of the Job Description, please refer to the PDF Job Description attached as an additional document to this advert. o Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (Biomedical Scientist) BSc Honours Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent.o Postgraduate level qualification in Blood Sciences equivalent to Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences or MSc.o Expert knowledge and understanding of the key techniques currently in use in the department including the ability to use departmental laboratory equipment.o Recent experience in a diagnostic Blood Sciences laboratory. At least 6 years post graduate experience and at least 5 years management experience.o High level of theoretical and practical knowledge of Blood Sciences techniques and procedures and their clinical applications, be technically competent at specimen processing and interpretation.o Understanding of the requirements to ensure compliance with appropriate legislative frameworks and protocols.o Recognised management qualification. Knowledge and experience of staff management techniques (e.g. recruitment, training supervision, organisational, appraisal, grievance and disciplinary).o Appropriate and up to date participation in CPD and appraisal.o High level knowledge of laboratory policies, Standard Operating Procedures, codes of practice, legislation and professional guidelines including those relating to Health and Safetyo Working knowledge of common IT programs (e.g. Microsoft) and laboratory IT programs (e.g. ICE, Ultra) and able to organise and develop systems within these programs.o Knowledge of NHS finance systems and experience in managing budgets.o Knowledge and ability to interpret National and Local Strategy and policy drivers relevant to span of management.
