Engineering Design Office Manager – Doncaster – £50-60k
This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the engineering design function, working at the heart of the business where engineering quality, innovation and delivery are critical. You’ll work closely with production, projects and leadership teams in a hands-on environment, ensuring designs are robust, compliant and delivered on time. It’s an ideal role for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys leadership, accountability and driving continuous improvement.
Design Office Manager - Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the head of operations and managing a team of CAD technicians who range in experience and from graduates to many years with the business.
You will receive specs from the sales team and portion work appropriately throughout the drawing office to ensuring high-quality, compliant and cost-effective designs are delivered in line with customer and business requirements.
Managing design changes, supporting new product development and innovation activities and ensuring revisions are controlled, documented and communicated effectively.
Maintain engineering standards whilst driving CI within the design office.
This is a highly communicative position as you will act as a key interface between the design office, production, projects, service and sales teams, supporting manufacturing and installation teams by resolving design queries and technical issues and contributing to project reviews, technical meetings and business planning activities.

It is essential that applicants have proven experience leading or coordinating an engineering or design team within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Strong working knowledge of engineering design standards and practices and proficiency in relevant CAD systems (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar).
You must be able to manage design workloads, priorities and deadlines.
It is expected that the post holder will have a degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) along with experience of designing machinery and bespoke engineered products.
As well as a salary £50-60k, the Design Office Manager can expect:
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday: 8am – 5pm, finishing at 4.30pm on Fridays.
Holidays: 24 days annual holiday, Bank Holidays and long service scheme.
Additional paid day off to celebrate your birthday (after completion of probation).
