Summary

Personal Assistants and Care Workers

We’re looking for compassionate, reliable and motivated individuals to join our growing pool of Personal Assistants / Care Assistants, supporting people across Plymouth through Direct Payments.

Whether you're experienced in care or exploring a new, rewarding career path, this is your opportunity to support people to live independently, stay active, and remain connected to their community.

Please note all available vacancies are employed positions working directly with one of our clients.

What You’ll Do
Our Personal Assistants support people with a wide variety of needs. Duties can include:
• Helping with washing, dressing and general personal care
• Support with preparing meals and light household tasks
• Encouraging engagement in hobbies, activities, and social opportunities
• Assisting with appointments, errands, and getting out into the community
• Providing organisation, structure and support with daily routines

Who You’ll Support
Direct Payment employers include:
• Older adults who want to remain independent at home
• Disabled adults with physical, sensory or learning disabilities
• Parents seeking support for their child or young person
• Individuals who want flexible, personalised support tailored to them

Hours & Flexibility
Hours vary depending on each client's needs and could include:
• Short morning or evening visits
• Daytime support during the week
• Weekends or occasional overnight support
• School holiday or term time only roles

Pay
Pay varies between employers, depending on experience and the nature of the support required. All vacancies meet the National Minimum Wage or above.

What We’re Looking For
Essential qualities may include:
• Friendly, patient and person centred approach
• Respect for privacy, dignity and independence
• Reliability and good communication skills
Some employers may require:
• A full driving licence
• Training in mobility support (e.g., hoist use)
• Experience supporting specific conditions or communication needs

Desired Experience (Not Essential)
• Previous care experience
• Experience supporting children or adults with disabilities
• Knowledge of local activities and community resources
• Comfortable in homes with pets
