Summary

Job Title: Family Cohesion Worker
Job Type: Temporary post until 31st October 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to successful funding
Hours: 35 hours per week including one twilight shift
Hourly rate: £13.65

Fortalice has the opportunity to recruit a Family Cohesion Worker to join our dynamic, hard-working team. The post involves working with families where the family unit has broken down due the trauma of domestic abuse. Purpose of the role:
Using a whole family approach, the Family Cohesion Worker will work in both Refuge and Outreach community settings to work holistically with families who are, or have, suffered from the effects of domestic abuse and violence. The work will involve supporting children, young people and parents to rebuild their family units and recover from the trauma they have experienced. The Worker will help parents to understand the child’s or young person’s position, whilst working with the child or young person to improve their wellbeing and resilience and providing strategies for both the child and parent to manage challenging behaviours. Identifying and assisting with safeguarding issues is a key part of this role.

Key skills:
• Proven ability to understand the impact of trauma and the complexities around domestic abuse
• Experience of working with families where the family unit has broken down, and using creative and proven strategies to support the rebuilding of their relationship
• Proven ability to support families with complex issues including challenging behaviour, mental health issues, self-harm, drug or alcohol abuse and risk-taking behaviour
• An ability to work in a whole family approach to support families in practical matters to meet issues/needs identified in individual support plans and promote, self-esteem, confidence, and independence
