Summary

A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The Specialist Locality Hub Clinician (Mental Health) is a key member of the integrated health and social care team within the Birmingham and Solihull area and plays a pivotal role in implementing the delivery of the most appropriate and best possible care. Based in the Locality Hub, the clinician undertakes effective scrutiny of referrals, systematically identifying individual needs and ensuring that each referral is signposted to the most appropriate pathway. This process is critical for directing service users to the right mental health support, whether within acute, community, or primary care settings, and for reducing unnecessary hospital admissions. This care is evidence-based, person-centred, and collaborative, ensuring that each patient’s unique needs are fully addressed.

The clinician is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality mental health care tailored to local needs, collaborating with other agencies and professions within the hub, to provide holistic and accessible services. By acting as the first point of clinical contact for patients after referral, the clinician identifies and responds to immediate specialist mental health needs, offers professional advice and support to other professionals and agencies, and helps to break down barriers to timely, effective mental health care in the Birmingham and Solihull community.

The post holder will fulfil the responsibilities of a clinician within the BSOL Specialist Locality Hub, adhering to core competencies and professional standards as outlined by the Trust and national guidelines. Central to this role is the delivery of safe, high-quality, and person-centred mental health care, tailored to the diverse needs of the local population.

The clinician will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies across the Birmingham and Solihull (BSOL) system to provide holistic, accessible services that promote recovery and well-being.

The clinician will undertake triage, assessment, and implementation of brief interventions as appropriate, thereby sustaining and enhancing their clinical expertise.

The clinician will ensure the existence, utilisation, and ongoing enhancement of effective communication pathways, supporting a seamless care journey for service users and facilitating integrated working across the BSOL system.
