Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivatedIVAS Infusion Unit Managerto lead our innovative and expanding Intravenous and Vascular Access Services (IVAS).
The IVAS service plays a vital role in preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge by delivering intravenous therapies as day cases or in the community. The service encompasses the Infusion Day Unit, Home Infection Management Service (HIMS), 7-day Vascular Access Service, and the International IVAS Training Academy.
This senior leadership role combines staff and unit management, expert clinical infusion support, and deputising for the Deputy IVAS Lead. The post holder will have line management responsibility for the nursing/midwifery team within the 22-chair Infusion Day Unit, working closely with the Deputy IVAS Lead, the Senior Sister for HIMS, and the Senior Sister for Vascular Access.
The patient cohort includes day-care patients receiving a wide range of intravenous therapies (excluding chemotherapy). The role includes delegated responsibility for budget and workforce management, ensuring effective use of nursing resources, equipment, and supplies.
The post holder will be employed by Frimley Health NHS FT and may be required to work flexibly across Frimley Health sites to meet service demand.
The post holder will provide visible, inspirational leadership, acting as a positive role model and promoting effective team working. They will be responsible for managing the department skill mix to ensure the delivery of clinically effective, high-quality, safe and person-centred care.
They will apply appropriate workforce planning tools at ward level, contributing to workforce planning and capacity management while maintaining strong partnership working. The post holder will ensure activity and workload are delivered efficiently within agreed timescales.
The role will champion the use of EPIC and the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) within clinical practice, supporting IVAS staff to maximise the benefits of digital systems and ensuring accurate, timely documentation and data utilisation.
The post holder will create and sustain a learning culture that supports assessment, education and professional development. They will provide mentorship and clinical supervision, enabling staff to continuously develop knowledge and skills in response to evolving service needs. The role includes delivering and contributing to teaching, mentoring and coaching sessions, actively encouraging innovation and service improvement.
