The Opportunity

Are you a confident, reliable individual looking for a flexible role in education? We are seeking Cover Supervisors to support local secondary schools during teacher absences.

This is a vital role where you will oversee classrooms for pupils aged 11-16. While no lesson planning or marking is required, you will be the lead figure in the room, ensuring that pre-set work is completed and that a positive, focused learning environment is maintained.

Is this role for you?

This position is highly versatile and serves as an excellent stepping stone for:

  • Aspiring Teachers seeking essential "front-of-class" experience.

  • Graduates looking to build a career in the education sector.

  • Teaching Assistants ready to take on more classroom responsibility.

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS) desiring a better work-life balance without the paperwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Management: Overseeing pupils and ensuring behaviour remains in line with school policies.

  • Student Engagement: Keeping students motivated and on-task with the provided materials.

  • Academic Support: Assisting pupils with questions regarding their set work.

  • Reporting: Collecting completed work and providing concise feedback for the returning teacher.

  • Safety: Upholding a safe learning environment and adhering to all safeguarding protocols.

Requirements
  • Education: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades 9-4 / A*-C) including English and Maths.

  • Communication: Fluent written and spoken English with the confidence to lead a room.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable.

  • Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check is required (we can assist with your application if you do not have one on the Update Service).

  • Qualities: Adaptability, professionalism, and a "can-do" attitude.

Note: Degrees, PGCEs, or NCFE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning are advantageous but not essential.

Why Choose This Role?

This is a brilliant way to gain exposure to a variety of subjects and school cultures. You will build your classroom management skills while enjoying a schedule that fits around your life.
