Summary

Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Digital Manager to lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of Swim England’s digital platforms, including our main website and mobile applications.

This is a key role within the Digital & Technology team, responsible for ensuring our digital products support organisational objectives, deliver excellent user experiences and maximise engagement and revenue across our key audiences.

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, lead a team of internal developers and act as the subject matter expert for digital delivery, innovation and optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of Swim England’s digital products, including swimming.org and associated mobile apps.

- Own and deliver the digital roadmap, prioritising developments in line with organisational strategy, KPIs and stakeholder needs.

- Manage and optimise digital customer journeys across key audiences and revenue-generating products.

- Lead and motivate the Digital team, setting clear objectives, managing performance and supporting professional development.

- Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery plans.

- Apply user experience best practice and Agile methodology to continuously learn, iterate and improve digital products.

- Act as the organisation’s go-to expert for new digital initiatives, including commissioning, onboarding and training.

- Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly communicating digital concepts and opportunities.

- Analyse insight and performance data (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager) to inform decision-making and identify future opportunities.

- Lead SEO strategy and delivery to maximise visibility, traffic and engagement across digital platforms.

- Ensure marketing and communications colleagues are kept informed of new digital developments and opportunities.

Skills and Experience

Essential

- Excellent understanding of user experience processes and Agile delivery methodologies.

- Strong knowledge of fundamental digital development principles and technical concepts.

- Proven experience managing digital projects, including websites and apps.

- Experience managing content management systems such as WordPress, BigCommerce or similar platforms.

- Experience leading and managing internal software development teams.

- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.

- Experience using digital insight and analytics to inform strategy and development.

- Excellent attention to detail, with a proactive, positive and highly motivated approach.

Desirable:

- Understanding of sports governing bodies and how digital can support organisational objectives.

- Experience developing and delivering SEO strategies.

- Degree educated or equivalent relevant professional experience.
