Summary

Lochaber Womens Aid is a feminist organisation that understands domestic abuse as a gendered crime and works to end violence against women and children.We are recruiting a Specialist Domestic Abuse Worker (Children and Young People) to provide one-to-one practical and emotional support to children who have been affected by domestic abuse..

You will work directly with children and young people, offering emotional and practical support in a trauma-informed, child-centred way. The role involves helping young people identify their support needs, explore realistic solutions, and develop coping strategies, while building trusting, supportive relationships.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a clear understanding that domestic abuse is a gendered crime and understands its impact on women and children.
  • Has a good understanding of trauma and its effects.
  • Has experience providing direct emotional and practical support.
  • Has strong communication skills and can build safe, supportive relationships.
  • Can support young people to identify their needs, explore options, and develop coping strategies to reduce trauma and anxiety.
  • Has the confidence to work sensitively with children who have experienced abuse.

Ongoing training and mentoring will be provided, including further learning around domestic abuse, trauma, and recovery.

Hours
This is a term-time post. (39 weeks per year)

Salary

£26,113.45 FTE (33hpw)
