Summary

Carer /Support Worker

A family in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Carer to support their two bright, friendly, and chatty boys, aged 6 and 8, who have SEND.

Both children attend a local special school and have needs including Autism, Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding, and possible ADHD.

This role is designed to provide structured support to the family for six hours per week, during after-school hours, term-time only. Specific days and timings will be agreed upon with the successful candidates

Hours and rate of pay:

6 hours per week (£18.92 per hour)

Location:

Hertfordshire (WD3)

DBS/Checks
Confirmation of DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
Training :

Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

• Safeguarding Children
• Introduction to first aid
• Health and Safety / Moving and handling

What you would be doing…

Supporting each child to take part in preferred activities at home
Accompanying and assisting them in community-based activities or clubs
Helping with emotional and sensory regulation using family-provided strategies
Supporting the children with homework tasks
Preparing and serving snacks and drinks

Engaging in conversations and showing interest in the children’s hobbies
Required skills and experience.

The successful applicant will be:
• Calm, empathetic, patient, and genuine in their approach
• Confident and enthusiastic about working with children
• Experienced in supporting Autistic children
• Able to communicate clearly, with a good standard of spoken and written English
• Friendly and capable of building a positive rapport with both children and parents

A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are highly desirable. Experience with Gastrostomy/PEG feeding is an advantage but not essential, as full training will be provided for emergency care related to the child’s Gastrostomy/Stoma.
