Mayflower Care Home is a 76-bed dementia service supporting residents with advanced and complex needs, located at the heart of Northfleet. This is a home with scale, responsibility, and real impact and it now requires strong, visible, and decisive leadership to take it forward.
This is not a gentle step-in role. It is an opportunity for an experienced Home Manager to reset standards, rebuild confidence, and establish what ‘good’ truly looks like in a large dementia setting.

- Salary up to £30,000 per annum
- Annual performance bonus of up to 40% (KPI-linked)
- Private Medical Insurance
- Pension scheme
- 5.6 weeks annual leave
The Challenge
Mayflower has experienced prolonged inconsistency in leadership, and the impact is clear. While the home remains consistently full and operates with zero agency usage, compliance, governance, and leadership grip require urgent and sustained attention. A recent drafted Requires Improvement outcome from the CQC reinforces the need for decisive action.
Commercial performance is not the concern here. The challenge is compliance, culture, and credibility.
This role calls for a Home Manager who can step in with confidence, bringing structure, visibility, and calm authority. Someone who can win the hearts and minds of the team, challenge poor practice, and set clear expectations through their own behaviour and standards.
Your Mission
As Home Manager, you will take responsibility for re-establishing leadership presence and embedding best practice across a home where around 90% of residents are living with advanced dementia.
You will lead from the front. Setting the tone, role-modelling excellence, and ensuring that poor practice is addressed quickly and constructively. Through consistency, expertise, and emotional intelligence, you will rebuild trust, stability, and pride within the team.
You will also play a key role in rebuilding and strengthening relationships with external professionals and MDT partners. Through visible leadership, professional credibility, and consistent follow-through, you will re-establish Mayflower as a trusted and collaborative care partner. This will include working closely with GPs, community health teams, mental health services, and local authorities to ensure joined-up care, shared confidence, and improved outcomes for residents.
This role requires longevity and commitment. Mayflower does not need another short-term fix, it needs a leader who is passionate about dementia care, confident in compliance, and determined to take the team on the journey together. Residents and staff must sit at the heart of every decision.
About You
You are an experienced, hands-on Home Manager with a strong background in complex dementia care. You are calm under pressure, clear in your expectations, and comfortable holding people to account, while remaining fair, compassionate, and supportive.
Whether nurse-qualified or non-nurse, you bring credible leadership experience, a deep understanding of advanced dementia needs, and a track record of improving services through presence, consistency, and cultural reset.
You believe that standards improve when leadership is visible, when staff feel supported rather than blamed, and when everyone understands what “good” looks like and how to achieve it together.
Your Leadership in Action
This is a chance to make a real, tangible difference every day. From spotting bad practice to celebrating small victories, you will guide Mayflower’s team to deliver meaningful, person-centred dementia care. Your visibility, energy, and presence will reshape the home’s culture, ensuring both residents and staff flourish.
Why Mayflower & Care Concern Group
