Summary
Yard Manager Opportunity – In a family run business based in Hemel Hempstead
Main Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate all yard activities, including loading and unloading vehicles
• To deliver high standards of customer service and safe working practices
• Stock control, accurate recordings of deliveries and stock movement
• Maintenance of the yard
• Oversee vehicle loading procedures and work closely with drivers to ensure safe, compliant, and timely deliveries
• Implement and enforce health & safety procedures, completing routine checks, risk assessments and relevant paperwork
• Assist with receiving deliveries, checking quality and quantity, and reporting any discrepancies or damage
Skills & Experience
• Proven supervisory or management experience within a builders’ merchants, distribution, or similar operational environment would be beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of yard operations and stock.
• Excellent communication skill with a customer-focused approach
• Committed to health & safety best practice
• Experience in operating a loading shovel
• HGV licence would be beneficial
• Reliable, flexible and able to work in a busy team with early starts or Saturday mornings as required
