Scientific Officer - Biological Resources Unit

We are seeking a motivated Scientific Officer to join the Transgenic Team, supporting the care, welfare and breeding management of transgenic mice under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

Key Responsibilities:
- Daily husbandry, welfare checks and record‑keeping
- Managing transgenic breeding colonies
- Supporting processes such as cryopreservation and rederivation
- Working to SOPs and promoting the 3Rs
- Participating in weekend and bank holiday rotas
- Contributing to facility upkeep and equipment maintenance
Essential:
- HNC in Animal Technology (or equivalent)
- Current/previous Personal Licence (PIL A-B)
- Experience in transgenic mouse breeding and colony management
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Flexibility, including weekend/bank holiday work
Desirable:
- Degree in Biological Sciences
- Experience with oncology strains or complex breeding schemes
- Experience with cryopreservation techniques
