Summary

The Role and the Department

The Examinations and Assessment Team oversee the planning, scheduling and administration of centrally run exams and the publication of results. They sit within Student Registry, one of five offices in the Student and Academic Services Directorate, which provides a professional administrative support service to staff, students and potential students at Durham University. The Academic Registrar is the Head of the department and is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer for its management. The following services fall under the remit of the Academic Office:

· Academic Registrar's Office

· Curriculum, Learning and Assessment

· Student Immigration and Funding

· Student Recruitment and Admissions

· Student Registry

All the services are based at either the Palatine Centre or Mountjoy Centre in Durham City.

The Examinations Administrator is a member of the Examinations and Assessment Team and has a key role in the organisation of exam arrangements for students who require assessment adjustments for reasons of disability. Other key duties include processing examination papers for printing and production of exam results. The duties of the post also include assisting in the general organisation of examinations and providing advice to members of staff in academic departments. Working in conjunction with other members of Student Registry, the Examinations Administrator provides a high-quality service for students, staff and external customers.

The Student and Academic Services Directorate operate a hybrid working model with the opportunity to split working at home and in the Student Registry office, which is in the Palatine Centre, South Road, Durham.
