Summary

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


1. Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture that supports the Charity’s purpose of Making Life Better and i-care values to increase morale, productivity and performance.

2. Carry out day-to-day maintenance, and repair of historic buildings and structures.

3. Develop and apply traditional craft and building skills such as thatching, dry-stone walling, turf work, timber framing, and other traditional skills as required.

4. Assist with the upkeep and repair of historic and operational machinery, including the water wheel and pumping equipment.

5. Support the sourcing and preparation of traditional materials, including broom, heather, stone, timber, and similar resources.

6. Participate in relevant training and certification, for example chainsaw operation, first aid, and abrasive wheel use.

7. Follow all Health & Safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

8. Assist with the creation, review, and updating of risk assessments.

9. Drive the Museum’s works vehicle as required for operational tasks.

10. Undertake porterage and general handyperson duties, including tasks that may involve heavy lifting.

11. Contribute to the visitor experience by taking part in craft demonstrations and informal skills training sessions.

12. Support volunteers.


13. Undertake all tasks in accordance with High Life Highland policies and procedures, including General Data Protection Regulations, health and safety procedures, relevant checks, reporting any concerns to management to ensure corrective action is taken
