Summary

WSCC are looking for an Integration & Support Manager on a fixed term contract basis to provide operational leadership for Integration and Support Officers across the Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Service. This role is part of the Senior Management Group and will deliver support to all families.

There will be a range of opportunities and challenges that may fall into this position, such as oversight of complex issues, complaints and appeals and supporting the Head of Service to deliver service improvement projects.

As the Integration and Support Manager, you will have oversight for the delivery of all casework services to resettled and migrated families. Having a key role in implementing a strengths-based approach which is partly the team supporting families to lead them in finding solutions within their local communities and networks. You will also have a leading role in the implementation of changing requirements issued from the Home Office, whilst supporting people to maintain their independence once funding has ceased.

About the role

You will be responsible for supporting and leading on aspects of emergency responses if required, ensuring the wellbeing of service users is safeguarded, and supporting service providers through uncertain times, working closely with our contracts teams and health providers.

You will support the development and implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures, policies and processes for the service, and will be responsible for quality assurance and performance of caseworker data. You will monitor performance and quality, and drive continuous improvement across your service area.

You will also have a key role in embedding new ways of working, as part of our programme of improvement. You will need to support the Head of Service in the delivery of savings and efficiencies and be accountable for the monitoring and management of the staffing budget in your service area.

Salary: £59,991- £63,411

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: Chichester or Crawley, with hybrid working and countywide travel

What you'll need to succeed

There is a requirement for significant previous management experience and an excellent understanding of frontline work in casework within the Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Service.

You will be required to build and sustain networks and relationships with providers, partner agencies and other stakeholders and will require a high level of communication skills. You will need to have a good sense of humour, be an exceptional team player and thrive in high pressure, fast-paced situations.

You will need good leadership skills to implement key priorities of the WSCC Communities Strategy and Business Plan at an operational level and ensure staff are engaged.

This role requires the successful candidate to travel throughout the county for visits. Regular attendance at your designated base location will also be necessary, and there will be opportunities for remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.

The role involves engaging confidently with families in person. While managing a caseload is not part of the responsibilities, there is an expectation to support case holders and to take initiative in independently delivering transactional activities.

Occasionally, the work may involve interacting with individuals experiencing significant trauma or difficult circumstances, requiring genuine empathy, professionalism, and resilience to provide appropriate support.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-graduate/professional qualification in management or the service specialism, or equivalent level of significant experience demonstrating comprehensive application of knowledge in a relevant setting.
  • Significant recent and relevant experience in delivering customer facing services.
  • Clear understanding of Refugee, Resettlement and Migration legislation.
  • Broad practical knowledge of complex theories including relevant technical knowledge to manage policies, projects and strategies.
  • Evidence of managing teams to deliver an outstanding service.
  • Experience of managing a budget and contributing to decision making on high level spending.
  • Considerable experience of managing and leading business activities with conflicting requirements.
