Summary
We are inviting applications for our Endohepatology Training & Research Fellowship at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This exciting opportunity in an evolving field is ideal for trainees before staring their StR training programme in gastroenterology following foundation or after or during IMT posts and is offered as a 12-month post initially with an option to extend to allow study for MD or PhD.
The educational goal for the fellowship programme will be to examine the feasibility, effectiveness, and safety of a comprehensive endohepatological assessment of patients with suspected liver or biliary diseases. This would include assessing the EUS endoluminal views and grading of oesophageal, gastric or ectopic varices compared to standard upper GI endoscopy, shear wave measurement (SWM) using EUS compared to percutaneous transient elastography (e.g. Fibroscan™), tissue acquisition using FNB liver biopsy compared to percutaneous or transjugular parenchymal or targeted liver biopsy and EUS-guided portal pressure gradient using 25G Echotip insight®measurement system.
This fellowship in endohepatology would include dedicated training in research methods, clinical hepatology and observing EUS procedures that are delivered and supervised within our outstanding EUS/ERCP advanced training programme in Nottingham, UK.
Training in research methodology will be overseen and integrated within the prestigious National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), a partnership between the University of Nottingham (UoN) and Nottingham University Hospitals NHST Trust, which has an exemplar training programme that attracts national & international fellows regularly.
