Summary
Exams Officer Description
Location: North Wales (Offices in St Asaph and Mold with hybrid working arrangements available)
Contract: Immediate start | 1 month initially | full-time
The Exams Officer is responsible for managing the administration of external examinations in line with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements, ensuring all processes are secure, accurate and compliant. The role acts as the main point of contact for all exam-related matters and works closely with the Head of Centre and wider staff team to make sure deadlines are met and exams run smoothly.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing the full exam cycle from planning through to post-results
- Registering, entering and withdrawing candidates in line with awarding body deadlines
- Maintaining accurate candidate records and verifying candidate identities
- Organising exam timetables, rooms, seating plans and invigilation
- Recruiting, training and managing invigilators
- Implementing access arrangements and reasonable adjustments
- Managing the secure receipt, storage and dispatch of exam materials
- Overseeing the conduct of examinations and handling incidents or irregularities
- Administering results, post-results services and examination certificates
- Supporting the Head of Centre with inspections, investigations and compliance
- Ensuring confidentiality and security of all exam materials and candidate work
The role requires someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable working to strict deadlines, with a proactive and ethical approach to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
