RE: Science Technician – Undergraduate and graduate Placement Scheme
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and conscientious Science Technician to join our outstanding Science Department. The successful applicant will be working within a team of exceptional practitioners using modern equipment to assist in the set-up of practical lessons for all classes across Years 7 to 11 (and Sixth Form if skills and experience allow). Full training will be given.
The post is fixed term for 1 year and would suit an undergraduate or graduate looking to be part of a placement scheme. The placement will be from 06.07.2026 to 23.07.2027. Hours are 36 per week for 39 weeks term time only.
Technicians play a vital role in supporting the teaching of exciting, effective science safely. The role involves servicing the suite of laboratories and the practical lesson requirements of the science teaching staff and assisting the Senior Science Technician. Previous experience of working in a laboratory is desirable but not essential as full induction and training will be provided. It is more important that applicants have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working as part of a team. Candidates should have an enthusiastic attitude and a natural ability to use their initiative whilst being committed to providing the very best service to the teaching staff so that they can deliver an outstanding education to all our students.
St John the Baptist is a highly successful school where you can flourish and develop your career. It is a school where teachers can teach effectively in classrooms with students that have a real thirst to learn. Furthermore, it is a place where you will be valued, and your wellbeing is considered as being of great importance. We believe the most effective learning takes place when staff feel happy, supported and appreciated, and we understand the vital role that support staff play in ensuring this.
