Summary

Role Overview
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be a key member of the school team, providing both classroom support and pastoral care. You will work closely with the SENCo, therapy team, and teaching staff, helping students access learning, develop strategies to succeed, and fully participate in school life.
Learning Support Assistants also contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider school community, supporting a well-rounded education. Flexibility, a broad skill set, and a passion for supporting neurodiverse learners are essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for early years and primary-aged pupils.
• Develop an understanding of individual students’ needs and seek guidance from the SENCo, class teacher, and external agencies.
• Support access to all learning experiences, providing or adapting resources such as worksheets, visual prompts, and games.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Deliver positive reinforcement, praise, and rewards to students.
• Facilitate inclusion in small group activities and support peer interaction.
• Attend relevant training sessions and meetings to stay up to date with developments in special educational needs.
