Join Our Team as a Job Coach

Are you passionate about helping people discover their strengths and achieve meaningful employment?

Would you like a varied and rewarding role where you can truly make a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities?

If so, we’d love to hear from you. United Response is looking for a motivated and supportive Job Coach to join our Employment service (ESEE) in Handsworth, Sheffield.

Location: Handsworth, Sheffield
Department: Employment (ESEE)
Accountable to: Service Manager – ESEE
Hours: x1 Full time 37.5 hours and x1 Part time 22 hours per week (flexibility required, including occasional work outside normal hours)
Salary: £26,019.24 per annum (pro rata for part time)

As a Job Coach, you will support People We Support to identify their strengths, skills and interests, helping them move towards sustainable employment, apprenticeships or further training. Using person-centred job coaching approaches, you will build employability skills, encourage participation in work-related activities and develop strong partnerships with employers to create inclusive and supportive workplaces.

You may work across a range of programmes including 16–25 Education, Pathway to Employment, Supported Employment, Access to Work, DFN Project Search, Supported Internships and Work Experience Programmes.

You will provide tailored one-to-one and group support, helping individuals develop workplace skills such as communication, time management and professionalism. This may include vocational training, Functional Skills support in English and Maths, travel training and in-work coaching. You will work closely with employers to create meaningful job placements, support reasonable adjustments and promote inclusive working environments.

Your role will also involve building relationships with local businesses, education providers, families and professionals to deliver holistic, person-centred support. You will attend employment planning meetings, contribute to employment strategies and help deliver employment-based programmes, while maintaining accurate records and monitoring progress.

We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, think creatively, communicate effectively and manage their workload independently. You will need experience working with young people or adults with SEN, learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities, along with GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths and good IT skills.

Experience of job coaching, supported employment or knowledge of employment pathways such as internships, apprenticeships or traineeships would be an advantage, as would Job Coach training.

This is a field-based role and flexibility is essential, as assignments may vary depending on organisational needs and the people we support.
