Summary


Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Oncology Research Fellow based at the Chelsea site of the Royal Marsden Hospital. This is a two-year fixed-term Clinical Research Fellowship within the Gynaecology Oncology and Radiotherapy Department commencing September 2026. This post will lead to an MD thesis using advanced machine learning techniques for radiotherapy imaging and planning. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in this rapidly evolving field which is likely to impact on many aspects of clinical practice. The postholder will be joining a multi-disciplinary team to investigate the incorporation of machine learning models in radiotherapy.

The post-holder should have FRCR Part One (Clinical Oncology) andare expected to be a specialty trainee in Clinical Oncology.

During this clinical fellowship it is expected that the appointee will conduct their independent original research leading to several national or international presentations and peer reviewed publications and to complete an MD thesis at ICR.The appointee will undertake and evaluate new contouring and radiotherapy planning approaches, and will learn how machine learning methods can be used in radiotherapy. This will include collaboration with imaging computing scientists to develop and implement novel auto-segmentation models. There are no regular in-patient care or on-call commitments. It is expected the research fellow will undertake one clinical oncology clinic a week.
