Summary

The DofE, empowers young people to build confidence, resilience and skills for life. As we celebrate our 70th anniversary and launch an ambitious new five-year strategy, we’re looking for a Media & PR Executive to help share the stories that inspire, influence and drive change.

This is an exciting opportunity for a budding media or communications professional to develop their skills within a fast-paced, purpose-driven press team.

You’ll play a key role in raising the profile of the DofE, supporting major charity moments, and helping ensure young people’s voices are heard across national and regional media.

This is a varied role, you’ll deliver daily media updates, monitor breaking news, manage journalist enquiries and coordinate interviews. You’ll support the creation of press materials, contribute to impactful campaigns, and work closely with colleagues across Engagement, Creative Content and Digital to spot opportunities and bring stories to life. You’ll also help track media performance, maintain press contacts and support media training across the Charity.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate knowledge within media or communications, confidence working with journalists and a strong sense of what makes a compelling story.

Can demonstrate a junior level media or communications professional.

Experience of working with journalists and a nose for what makes a good story.

Understanding of GDPR and familiarity with informed consent and safeguarding best practice.

An awareness of, and interest in, current affairs, issues affecting young people today, and press and communications trends.

Team player with great interpersonal and communication skills.

A confident communicator with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work well under pressure.

You’ll be organised, collaborative and calm under pressure, with an interest in current affairs and the issues affecting young people today.

Experience in youth brands, charities or newsroom environments is a welcome bonus.

Please Note - You will be required to attend the London office a minimum of once a week.

**The geographical allowance is based on a member of staff having a home or office-based postcode within 30 miles (as the crow flies) from Charing Cross, WC2N 5HS. The allowance is 7% capped at £4,000 per annum.
