We are seeking a confident and experienced Duty Operations Manager to lead weekend cleaning and housekeeping operations, ensuring the safe, compliant and high-quality delivery of services across site.

Job Description

We are looking for a visible and proactive operational leader who can drive audit readiness, uphold infection-prevention standards, and ensure consistent excellence in cleanliness, hygiene and environmental quality.

Acting as the senior on-site contact and empowered decision-maker, the postholder will support the safe delivery of ISS services across Orpington, Portering, Catering and Retail functions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead delivery of cleaning operations in full compliance with 2021 National Cleaning Standards and PLACE domains.

Ensure cleaning frequencies, methods, specifications and COSHH requirements are correctly implemented and maintained.

Maintain audit-ready documentation, complete regular quality audits and address non-conformances promptly.

Prepare for and participate in PLACE inspections, internal audits and external regulatory audits.

Lead, motivate and develop cleaning teams, ensuring effective workforce planning, induction, training and performance management.

Ensure full compliance with HSE, COSHH, manual handling and safe systems of work, including incident investigation and corrective action.

Deliver services effectively against KPIs, SLAs and performance frameworks, monitoring productivity, quality and resource use.

Drive continuous improvement across cleaning operations using audit data, feedback and best practice to enhance performance and outcomes.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Proven leadership experience in cleaning or housekeeping within a regulated environment.

Strong working knowledge of the 2021 National Cleaning Standards.

Experience preparing for and leading PLACE inspections and audits.

Demonstrated ability to manage, engage and develop large operational teams.

Strong understanding of HSE, COSHH and infection-control principles.

Excellent communication, organisation and people-leadership skills.

Calm, methodical and audit-driven approach.
