Role Overview:
As a Cook/Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals in our busy kitchen, ensuring that the food provided meets the specific dietary requirements of our residents. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure that food is prepared safely, hygienically, and on time. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of elderly residents by providing them with meals that promote health, well-being, and enjoyment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook meals according to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
• Ensure that food is prepared to a high standard, meeting both nutritional and aesthetic expectations.
• Assist in planning and preparing menus, considering special dietary requirements (e.g., diabetic, gluten-free, soft diets).
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, ensuring that the kitchen complies with food safety regulations.
• Assist with stock control and ordering, ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked with fresh ingredients.
• Ensure meals are served promptly and at the correct temperature.
• Clean kitchen equipment and work areas in line with hygiene standards.
• Support in the preparation of special events, celebrations, and themed meals for residents.
• Maintain accurate records of food safety, temperature logs, and food waste as required.
• Support the team with any other kitchen-related tasks as needed.

Key Requirements:
• Previous experience in a cooking or kitchen assistant role, ideally in a healthcare or catering environment.
• A passion for cooking and a commitment to providing nutritious, high-quality meals.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 is desirable).
• Ability to cater for a variety of dietary needs, including special diets (e.g., vegetarian, low-sodium, texture-modified).
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays (if applicable).
