Specialist Technician - Welding and Fabrication CentreSalary Details: Scale: BS22-BS25 (currently £29,440 - £31,878 pro rata)Contract Type: Salaried - Permanent Hours of work: Full time - 37 hours per week Qualifications: Minimum level 3 qualification in Welding, Fabrication or related Engineering disciplineIf not held, to undertake and successfully complete a full First Aid Certificate and Health & Safety Qualification within an agreed timescaleRelevant experience and qualifications in gas supply systems for workshops including manifold and portable bottle supplies Experience:Extensive experience in welding and fabrication including MMA, TIG, and MIG processesExperience of maintaining and repairing engineering equipmentExperience with gas supply systems in workshop environments including manifold systems and portable bottle managementExperience of working with young peopleUnderstanding of health and safety requirements in engineering workshopsGood interpersonal and communication skillsStrong leadership and supervisory skillsSuitable to work with children and vulnerable adultsAbility to lift and move heavy equipment and materialsWillingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of the curriculumDetails:To provide specialist technical support and oversight across the Welding and Fabrication facilities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environment. The post holder will oversee the daily operation of the technical function within Mechanical, Welding and Marine and ensure compliance with college policies, health and safety legislation, and awarding body requirements.Applicants with Welsh language verbal communication skills at intermediate/advanced/fluent level are particularly welcome.
